One more week until NaNoWriMo! I’m super pumped and I’m craving getting back into a story, but I will hold out until November first before I start drafting. In the mean time, I thought I’d just share with you a few recent updates and what I’ve been working on…

Book Reviews
I’m going to take a break from book review for the month of November, just to focus on writing. I’ll still be reading, don’t worry, but I plan to resume sharing my latest reads and opinions in December. You can read my most recent review on New Kid while you wait!

Writer’s Workshop
I also plan on pausing the Free Writer’s Workshop for the month of November. I’ll have one more post this month, and then I’ll catch you back in December for more tips to help your writing!

Prewriting
I spent October prewriting, brainstorming, researching, and plotting the NaNo project. I’m not very good at outlining, but I do need to have an idea of where I’m going. I’ve found in past drafting, that events and characters and plot points often change as I get to know my characters through the writing.
Pssst! If you haven’t read my post about Prewriting, you should go there now!
This project actually started as a short story, but it just seemed like there was more there, and boy, is there. IF I can make sense of all the ideas churning in my head and get it down in a semi-sensible manner, this could be a really cool book. I’ll keep you posted!

Current Projects
Finally, October has been full of some freelance work. One piece is scheduled to come out in November, and another in January. I’ve been researching for a history article (that actually coincides with my NaNo project a little), which I’m hoping to outline and submit by the December 1st deadline, and I’ve drafted a couple of short stories for submissions at a couple other publications.

I’ll see you next Monday for the first post of NaNoWriMo!
Great
